The History of Bishop Buddy Assembly 2122
During the summer of 1987, a new Assembly was just an idea. Sir Knights felt that there was a need to start a new Assembly, and soon this idea was acted on. Primarily, PFN Barney Barnes (pictured, below) started organizing things that needed to be completed in order to start a new Assembly.

PFN Barney Barnes, Bishop Buddy Assembly's Charter Faithful NavigatorAlthough this was a tough job, many Sir Knights interested in the new Assembly helped with this process along with a few Sir Knights from Balboa Assembly. One of the biggest hardships was getting the paperwork together and completed, but that did not discourage anyone. Finally, nine months of hard work paid off on March 19, 1988, when Bishop Buddy Assembly 2122 was chartered with fifty-two charter members.

An opening dinner was held immediately after the charter date. Although there were only fifty-two charter members, over 250 people attended the opening dinner kicking off the start of the new Assembly. The support for Bishop Buddy Assembly from people that were not members or wives was tremendous.

One year after the Assembly was chartered, the Our Lady of Peace Council of the Ladies of Columbus began. There were many roadblocks getting the Ladies of Columbus Council started. Despite this, there were many Ladies that were proactive with getting the Council started. Immediately, they started helping the Assembly in all their works.

Throughout the years, Bishop Buddy Assembly has followed the duties of the Fourth Degree Assemblies. Yearly, they financially support two or three seminarians with their studies to the priesthood.

Additionally, membership has increased significantly since the beginning. Starting off with fifty-two charter members, there are now over 150 members in the Assembly. This has been as a result of the successful recruitment of members well in advance of the scheduled Fourth Degrees. Also, each Grand Knight with eligible Fourth Degree members in his Council, along with other Sir Knights, mentions joining the Fourth Degree.

One of the biggest ongoing activities is assisting our Veterans. The V.A.V.S. committee, under the leadership of PFN Richard Torpey, assists those in need who have served our Country. This committee visits Veterans and supports them in any way possible.

Throughout the years, the Assembly has won many awards including those from Color Corp Competitions in which they attained first place, second place and third place. Also, the Assembly has won several membership awards for having the most new members join the Fourth Degree at Exemplifications. Bishop Buddy Assembly has given awards to its members throughout the years for their dedicated service to the Assembly such as to the Past Faithful Navigators and others that have positively contributed to the wellbeing of the Assembly.
